“The world doesn’t need another nutrition book!”
That’s what I thought to myself when Dr. Alli Cain, DC first asked us to collaborate on our latest project. There are enough “what to eat” books, blogs and products out there to keep someone consumed for months, if not years. Also, as a Naturopathic Doctor, my clinical days are often filled with committed and well intentioned individuals looking for advice on how to navigate the multiple and often confusing sources on nutrition. And still at the end of the day what I hear most is, “I know what to eat, but I just don’t do it!” So the last thing we wanted to do is write a book just about what to eat.
Dr. Alli Cain, DC agreed! We decided to take a mindset first approach to nutrition, to optimize sustainable healthy change. The three of us got to work! What ensued was months of creative planning, writing and fine tuning to create MINDSHIFT MACROS. We wanted to create a lifestyle guide that is able to meet you where you are, and take you to where you want to be. We wanted to give you the tools to transform your health from the inside-out.

If you want to make real change in your life, then you have to behave as the best version of yourself today. You are more likely to reach your goals when you learn to act and speak as Your Ideal Self. Once you identify how your superhero behaves in times of challenge and change, you are then able to use this information as a compass to help you take steps towards your most desired health outcomes. For the brain to start to rewire its neural connections, your behaviour needs to be aligned with your end goal. The sooner you can identify who you want to be, understand how this type of person behaves, and why it is important for you to be this version of you, the sooner your brain can change, and your life can transform.

We are deeply committed to helping you build a strong foundation. This includes teaching you how to use macronutrients (Carbohydrate, Fat, Protein) for your individual needs. We teach you how to calculate the right percentage of each food category to fit your need (lose weight, gain muscle, increase performance, maintenance). Once you learn the basics of how this works for you, you are then able to change the calculations as your health journey progresses. There has never been a “one-size fits all” model that works, and therefore we want to empower you with the tools to be able to adjust as your needs evolve. For change to be sustainable it has to be part of your life. The tools we give you are to empower your choices for real life, everyday.
Food Quality Matters, A Lot!

We want to help you reframe your choices around food so that you are checking in to make sure your emotional needs are not automatically dictating what is on your plate. You will learn how to set goals that go beyond fixating on the scale or mirror. We highlight the importance to bringing joy to your habit changes. And we teach you crucial difference between a guilt mindset and a shame mindset to ensure your thinking is helping your thrive!
